NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- Don’t be alarmed by Wednesday’s court ruling if coronavirus led you to vote by mail in today’s primaries. Your ballot will be counted.
The Tennessee Supreme Court yesterday overturned a June ruling by a Nashville judge permitting all eligible voters to vote by mail in November due to COVID-19.
However, the justices wrote the decision does not impact ballots submitted for the August 6 primary.
The justices will also allow some pandemic based excuses in November, including for people in quarantine, or those caring for someone at high risk of virus exposure.
The top court agreed that ballot integrity and voting efficiency are legitimate state concerns.
