Tenn. Medicaid block grant proposal 'wasted time'

cms.gov

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (OSBORNE) -- Tennessee officials and advocates for the poor had radically different reactions to yesterday’s release of the Trump Administration’s Medicaid block grant plan.

President Trump’s plan bears little resemblance to the proposal Gov. Bill Lee and his administration spent a year developing. But state officials say they’re encouraged, arguing that Tennessee is on the right track for federal approval.

The Tennessee Justice Center had a different take. President Anna Walton says Lee’s Medicaid proposal was “wasted time.” She says the state needs to get serious about  addressing the opioid crisis, rural hospital closures, and the recent drop in the number of poor children covered by TennCare, Tennessee’s version of Medicaid.
