MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- By several measures this past week was the worst Tennessee has suffered since the pandemic began.
A total of 127 deaths were recorded statewide by Saturday. That's the largest number of fatalities in a single week so far. Thirty-seven people died on Thursday alone, another grim new record.
The state also reported an all-time high 547 hospitalizations last week. The number of available ICU beds across Tennessee has fallen to 17 percent.
On Sunday, the state reported 3140 new confirmed cases of COVID-19. That’s the second highest single-day count since the health crisis began in March.
