Tenn. COVID-19 deaths rise again, new cases and hospitalizations fall
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- Tennessee suffered another spike in COVID-19 related deaths this past week, but the number of confirmed new infections and hospitalizations continue to fall.
State officials reported 202 virus related deaths for the week ending Saturday. That’s up sharply from the week before, but below the peak of 218 fatalities reached the week ending August 22.
Meanwhile, the number of new infections has fallen six weeks in a row, dropping 15 percent in the past week alone.
Hospitalizations have fallen four consecutive weeks, dropping to 403 admissions for the week ending Sep. 12.
