Tenn. Senator Blackburn votes to reject nearly all Biden Administration nominees

senate.gov

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) — Tennessee’s Marsha Blackburn is out of step with most of her Senate, GOP colleagues on the confirmation of President Joe Biden’s political appointees.

Of the six top posts in the Biden Administration to get senate confirmation votes so far, Blackburn has only voted in favor once. The Senator approved the nomination of former General Lloyd Austin as Defense Secretary.

Tennessee’s senior Senator voted “Nay” on the five remaining nominations, including the Tuesday confirmation of former presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg as Transportation Secretary. Buttigieg is the first openly gay Secretary named to a cabinet level post.

On four of the six nominations considered by the Senate to date, Blackburn voted in the minority on nominees who won strongly bi-partisan confirmations.

Tennessee junior Senator Bill Haggerty has voted “Yeah” on three of the six nominations.
