Body confirmed to be that of missing RuCo teen Devin Bond

The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office confirms that the body found this past week in the Barfield area is that of missing Rutherford County teen Devin Bond.

The 16-year-old Riverdale High School student disappeared in March of 2017.

In a press statement released Monday afternoon, the Sheriff's office says medical examiners made the identification. They found no signs of foul play.

In a Facebook post Monday evening, Devin Bond's mother, Heather Simmers-Bond, posted a statement thanking community members for their condolences. She went on to praise local law enforcement for their years-long effort to locate her son.

Simmers-Bond went on to say she'll be turning her efforts next to helping other families search for their missing loved ones. She also promised to publically release funeral arrangements when they are made.

When the body was found last week, Simmers-Bond posted the statement "Our goal was to bring Devin home and we are bringing him home, just not in the way we had hoped. Rest In Peace sweet boy and we will be counting the days until we are together again."
