NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- Nashville’s music industry is asking state lawmakers to “reject” six pieces of legislation targeting the LGBTQ community.
Among the companies signing an open letter to legislators: Apple, Big Machine Label Group, Curb Records, Sony, Spotify, Warner and the Americana Music Association.
Lawmakers have already passed one of the bills and Gov. Lee has signed it into law. That measure prohibits transgender athletes from participating in school sports.
Another of the bills is being debated Monday in both the Tennessee House and Senate. That measure would let students sue their school districts if they’re forced to share a bathroom with transgender individuals.
