MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (Mike Osborne)  --  It has been a deadly year for bicyclists on Tennessee highways.

With eleven weeks remaining in 2020, 10 riders have already died statewide. That’s more bike fatalities than were recorded in 2018 and 2019 combined.

The latest death was reported Wednesday in Murfreesboro. Police say 71-year-old Herbert Knee was seriously injured when he collided with a car on South Church St.

Knee was flown by Life Flight helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he died a short time later.

MPD’s Fatal Accident Crash team is investigating the incident. So far, no charges have been filed in the case.
