Two more mid-state coronavirus cases announced

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- The Tennessee Departmentof Health announced Wednesday afternoon that two more cases of coronavirus have been diagnosed in the mid-state.

The department says one patient lives in Davidson County and the other in Williamson County.

Wednesday's announcement brings to nine the total number of reported COVID-19 cases statewide. There are now five reported cases in Williamson County, two in Davidson County, and one each in Shelby and Sullivan counties.

State officials announced Tuesday that, going forward, they would identify only the county of residence for new coronavirus cases in an effort to protect patient confidentiality.

It was just six days ago that Gov. Bill Lee identified the state's first COVID-19 patient as a Williamson County resident.
