Pres. Trump appoints TBI Director Rausch to law enforcement commission

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (OSBORNE) -- Tennessee’s top law enforcement officer has been named by President Donald Trump to a new commission tasked with recommending solutions for the nation’s most pressing law enforcement issues.

David Rausch heads the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. He’s one of 18 law enforcement and criminal justice experts nationwide named to the commission.

Rausch has been asked to head study groups focusing on reduction of crime, officer recruitment and training, and building respect for law enforcement.

“There has been a diminishing impact to law enforcement as a result of a decrease in respect. We’re seeing that in a number of ways, from attacks on law enforcement verbally, but also physically, and that has to be addressed.”

The commission will meet every 30 days beginning in February. They’ll forward recommendations to President Trump and Attorney General Bill Barr at the end of the year.
