Why is everyone arguing about 'herd immunity'? Vanderbilt School of Medicine explains

vumc.org

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- The term “herd immunity” is one of the concepts generating controversy on social media as the pandemic has taken hold.

It’s a complex issue that can be hard for anyone outside the medical community to grasp . So the Vanderbilt School of Medicine has produced a two page explainer that describes how herd immunity works in simple terms.

The flyer discusses the two ways coronavirus could be brought under control through herd immunity. It also explains the role of vaccines in creating herd immunity.

The explainer ends with a sobering prediction concerning just how many Tennesseans might die if herd immunity has to be achieved without a vaccine.

You can find the VSOM flyer here.
