Metro Police promise mask crackdown on lower Broad this weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne)  --  Stung by the nationwide attention given to lax coronavirus restrictions enforcement on lower Broad, Nashville officials are promising a crackdown this coming weekend.

The Tennessean reports Metro Police are vowing a larger presence in the city’s tourism district. They’re also promising citations for those not wearing masks, and arrest for anyone openly challenging Health Department orders.

Violations are a class C misdemeanor that can carry a 30 day jail sentence.

Social media posts showing mask less revelers visiting the city’s honky tonks drew widespread, scathing criticism this past weekend.

Several media outlets are reporting a large party on Fern Ave. this past weekend even drew criticism from the White House.
