The Mavericks band member assaulted at a Franklin bar, reportedly for speaking Spanish

FPD

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (Mike Osborne)  --  Franklin Police said this week they are investigating an assault on a member of The Mavericks at a Cool Springs bar this past weekend.

Authorities reported the incident occurred early Sunday morning at Tony’s Eat and Drink.

The Mavericks confirmed the incident on social media saying band member Lorenzo Molina and fellow musician Orlando Morales were assaulted by two men at the bar.

The Mavericks post said the men assaulted the pair because they were speaking Spanish.

There’s no mention of a hate crime in the Franklin Police statement. However, the FPD is offering a $1,000 reward for information about the assault.
