NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- One of Tennessee’s top Republicans has called for stiffer pandemic health restrictions, including a mask mandate.
Dr. Bill Frist is a renowned heart surgeon and former U.S. Senator.
In a recent Forbes Magazine op-ed, Frist warned that without a more concerted effort to bring COVID-19 under control, the virus may kill half-a-million Americans by spring.
Frist wrote in part, “we need our governors to put politics aside and embrace what the science tells us.” Dr. Frist urged a mandatory mask mandate, social distancing, and limits on group gatherings.
To date, fellow Republican Gov. Bill Lee has resisted such calls for statewide restrictions.
