Tenn. sheriff refuses to enforce governor's COVID-19 restrictions

PCSO

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (Mike Osborne)  --  The Putnam County Sheriff said Tuesday he will not enforce Gov. Bill Lee’s new COVID-19 restrictions on public gatherings.

Lee on Sunday ordered gatherings be held to 10 people or less statewide, with a number of exceptions.

Sheriff Eddie Farris released a statement Tuesday saying in part that “the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office will NOT be using our resources to restrict your constitutional liberty.”

He went on to encourage residents to “make the right choices and decisions” and “enjoy your family and have a Merry Christmas.”
