Authorities: RuCo woman murdered, her small children found home alone

RCSO

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne)  --  A woman’s body was found in a Rutherford County ditch Monday, and authorities have arrested a Murfreesboro man in connection with her death.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office says the parents of Brecka Lugo found the 29-year-old woman missing and her two small children alone in their New Zion Road home early Monday morning.

Her body was found minutes later in a ditch along Oak Grove Road, three miles southwest of Murfreesboro. Evidence at the scene suggested homicide.

Investigators say they quickly developed Brecka Lugo’s estranged husband as a suspect in her death. Deputies arrested Juan Lugo a short time later on I-24.

He was booked into the Rutherford County Jail on a charge of Frist Degree Murder and a half-million-dollar bond.
