MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- Middle Tennessee's March 3 tornado survivors have one week to complete an application for a federal disaster grant.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency will close the application period on Monday, May 4.

During a recent press briefing, Mayor John Cooper noted that 645 Nashville homeowners and renters have already applied for aid. He says nearly $2 million in individual assistance has been approved.

Cooper also noted that roughly $9 million in Small Business Administration disaster loans have been awarded to Metro companies impacted by the storm.

You can begin the aid process online by visiting disasterassistance.gov.

Metro officials recently launched a telephone tornado hotline for Nashville residents who need help navigating available aid options. That number is 615-270-9255.
