NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- Metro Nashville wants more boots on the ground to support its enforcement of pandemic related health restrictions.
The City Council will Tuesday night consider two ordinances expanding the number of Metro employees able to issue health citations or stop work orders.
The first bill would allow the Fire Marshal's Office, Public Works, Water Service, and Codes employees to shut down businesses or construction sites found out of compliance.
The second bill would empower Metro Health Department Director Dr. Michael Caldwell to use employees from other city departments to enforce his orders.
Both bills are up Tuesday for a second of three votes required for passage.
