Pres. Trump calls Belmont debate moderator 'terrible & unfair'

Kristen Welker

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) — President Donald Trump has attacked the reporter who will moderate this week’s Nashville debate between the Republican president and Democratic challenger Joe Biden.

In a twitter post Saturday, Trump called NBC White House Correspondent Kristen Welker, “terrible & unfair, just like most of the Fake News reporters.”

The president’s comment came on the same day Welker released the debate topics she’s chosen for Thursday’s face off at Belmont University.

They include “Fighting COVID-19,” “American Families,” “Race in America,” “Climate Change,” “National Security,” and “Leadership.”

On a related note, debate related road closures around Belmont will begin on Wednesday. The closures include a portion of Belmont Blvd., along with portions of 11th, Compton, Acklen, Caldwell and Delmar avenues.
